I feel I know next to nothing about how to use these tools. much less what they are. For the record, I was extremely attentive, then lost steam just in sheer frustration. We had no real work time, and lecture overflowing.
Maybe we could have done more hands on interspersed throughout the presentation - more exploration. I would have liked to discuss ideas with other math teachers too.
I would have liked to get to the "meat" of the subject a lot quicker with a lot more hands on. The presentation seemed to lag at times, but could have been easilly fixed by actual demonstration of the items.
I believe that something as interactive as Web 2.0 needs to be hands on and not through direct instruction. Be careful sometimes is appears to be like "listening to Star Wars". More learning through hands on....allow for the initial chaos.
I know that we are all a bunch of teachers on the first day of staff development but it was really hard to sit all morning. I would have really liked to have more time working on the each of the three areas that you empasized today (Wiki, blogs, socilabookmarking) and used the time to get all three of them set up prior to the the beginning of school next week. This would have better prepared me and allow me to become comfortable with the use of the new things that I have learned today.
the weakness was not in the teacher but in the student as I've learned so much today and hope to just implement the blogging in my classroom in several venues; in my Love and Logic class, Infant and Toddler class and Culinary Arts. I'd like my students to be able to post comments on classes and share recipes that they had success with.
I am getting dumber as I get older. I need to do it to learn it. I like the concept of these tools. I want to play around with the wiki and blog concept for a while before I implement them into my teaching.
The only real negative that I felt there was was the pacing of the presentation. If we had been able to have some hands on activity interspersed with the lecture would have perhaps made the connections a little bit more effective for those that didn't already have this technology down through personal experiance.
It was great! More time on computers is the only thing I would suggest-- but I realize it is difficult to hold the attention of people when they have ready access to a computer. I thought it was great!
Aside from technological glitches, I felt the workshop went well. I would like to see a longer time practicing the skills. Prepping a blog or especially a wiki took more time than we were given.
I thought that the info was good. I liked that I got to use the computer to build my own wiki at the end of the day. I know that it is hard to be a presenter but I would rather just get the info and not have to work with other people.
Overall, I thought the workshop was very beneficial. It may have helped to have more time to discuss within our groups (especially before we got on the computer). It also may have been helpful to meet with others who teach at the same grade level (if possible) to discuss possible Wiki ideas.
I believe a weekness of this course was that there was not enough time for exploring/creating a wiki or blog in the computer lab. I would have been more successful and comfortable with more time.
I wish we could have spent more time putting the information to use, but I understand that I had to learn about it all first. I hope that I will remember enough to take the time to explore more at home.
Many of us already came with a knowledge of what bloggin and wikis were. We just wanted to know how to create our own. Great information on the purpose of integrating technology into the classroom.
Too much lecture not enough hands on the computer.
ReplyDeleteNot enough time on the computers to practice what you were teaching. Possibly one step at a time.
ReplyDeleteI feel that the training was still a little slow pasted - I would have loved to be wowed with the coolest and best practices out there
ReplyDeleteI feel I know next to nothing about how to use these tools. much less what they are. For the record, I was extremely attentive, then lost steam just in sheer frustration. We had no real work time, and lecture overflowing.
ReplyDeleteToo much information all at once.
ReplyDeleteIt would have been nice to have more hands on experience along with the lecturing.
ReplyDeleteLacked the time to get on the computer and work through the wiki, blog etc.

ReplyDeleteThe information seemed to drag on. I think the information could have been done in half a day.

ReplyDeleteSuperb!
ReplyDeleteneet to get to the heart of the topic faster.

ReplyDeleteNot enough hands on time.
ReplyDeleteNo weaknesses
ReplyDeleteThe weakness would just be the sitting.
ReplyDeleteI think this should be a two-day presentation with more hands-on...talk about wikis, use them, talk about blogs, use them. Otherwise it was terrific.

ReplyDeleteI still see limited computer access preventing much of this at the High School unfortunately.

ReplyDeletekind of a hands on kind of person so would of been nice to do as we were progressing in the class
ReplyDeleteNeeded to have a computer in front of me to be more hands on. Not enough time spent on wiki,
ReplyDeleteThis was a very valuable workshop! It was frustrating at times when the technology would not work, we worked through it and all of it was worth it.

ReplyDeleteThe morning session was a little slow paced. I would have liked to see more examples.
ReplyDeleteWe had a hard time getting on the computers because they were not working correctly but overall once we got on them it went well.

ReplyDeleteI would have liked to have more time to make my wiki page and less lecture
ReplyDeleteI wish we could have more on-line computer time. I would love to have had time to explore all those wonderful websites!

ReplyDeleteMore computer time would have strengthened the learning that was to occur.
